Fitting instructions
Wood flooring can be laid in three distinct ways.
- Nailed. This is the traditional method which is still very common for solid wood flooring. The strips are nailed to battens that are loose laid to the sub-floor to form a level surface.

- Stick-down. This is a less expensive method and is the most commonly used. It is suitable for all types of wood flooring and all types of sub-floor.

- Floating. This is the easiest method which is becoming more common. The blocks are fitted together and placed on the floor. They can be laid over a layer of underlay or sound insulating material.

- Recommendations for laying on a floor with underfloor heating :
Some wood floors are not compatible with underfloor heating. As the information given in our catalogues is subject to change, please ask your retailer for advice.
In addition to following the advice given above, underfloor heating requires some special precautions (complete details are given in our catalogue and in the official DTU):
- the thickness of the screed over the heating pipes must be at least 30 mm and conform to DTU 65-6, 65-7, 65-8.
- the maximum humidity is 1.5%
- the floor temperature is a maximum of 26/27°C (once wood floor is laid)
- the natural drying-out of the sub-floor must be finished off with a pre-heating period of at least 3 weeks before the floor is laid, whatever the time of year.
- pre-heat the room in which the floor is to be laid, then turn off the heating 48 hours prior to laying.
- turn heating back on 3 days after laying, raising the temperature in daily
5°C stages until the correct temperature is reached.
- Whatever the thickness of the wood floor, where possible use the “full”
glueing method, with a ”non-water based” adhesive on the sub-floor
without an underlay.
